Box Office Assistant Manager

The Role 

Reporting to the Box Office Manager, the Assistant Box Office Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the friendly and smooth running of the Fringe Box Office and patron check-in at our venues. The Assistant Box Office Manager will sell tickets in-person and by phone at the Fringe Box Office, respond to emails, and assist artists and our volunteer team with ticketing requests, assist with the set-up of FOH check-in tools, and Satellite Box Office locations. This is a seasonal part-time position from July 29 to September 15, 2024  

 

Key Responsibilities  

  • To sell tickets in-person and by phone, and respond to Box Office emails, providing excellent customer service to Fringe patrons 

  • To resolve ticketing questions and concerns from patrons, artists, and volunteers, with assistance from the Box Office Manager 

  • To assist with Box Office set-up and take-down 

  • To assist with pre-season set-up, and training of staff and volunteers. 

  • To liaise with Box Office Manager and Associates to ensure smooth running of all ticket-selling locations 

  • To assist with training Box Office Associates, and volunteers 

Person Specification

Skills & Abilities 

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

Attention to detail 

– Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced setting 

Good computer skills 

 

Experience with Eventotron, Super Simple Box Office, and WordPress 

Knowledge 

– An appreciation for the arts, especially theatre 

 

 

 

Experience 

Previous customer service experience in a theatre setting 

Experience in  

– Experience in live theatre and/or festivals 

Previous experience in a supervisory role 

Other Requirements 

-Ability to take direction and work both on a team and individually 

Ability to work a variety of shift times and lengths 

 

 

Terms & Conditions  

Salary: $23/hour 

Hours: part-time, weekdays 11:30-10:30, weekends 10:00-10:30 

Training: one paid training shift before September 3 

Vacation/Leave: 4% in-lieu

Festival Volunteers

The Vancouver Fringe Festival is back for its 40th year around the sun! From September 5th through to the 15th, we have an incredible lineup of artists coming from all avenues of life to share their stories and creativity with our city. With over 65 shows coming to the Vancouver Fringe this year, we need driven volunteers with a passion for the arts!

 
We have a very small number of permanent staff, so the Fringe couldn’t exist without YOU. Volunteers are typically asked to commit a minimum of 16 hours (approximately 4 shifts) across the duration of the Festival. There are volunteer positions ranging from Production Crew Members to Front of House assistance to serving drinks at our infomous Fringe Bar!

Dozens of travelling artists descend on Vancouver each year to entertain and delight us as part of our annual Fringe Festival (returning Sep 5 – 15, 2024). We are always on the lookout for comfortable and welcoming places for them to stay while they perform – and we need your help!
