FAQ

When you buy your one-time $10 membership, you help us cover the artists’ costs and keep the Fringe going. We subsidize lotteried artists’ costs, like staging, seating, lighting and sound equipment, and marketing. All told, we cover 80% of what it would cost an artist to present a show on their own. Membership also grants you access to our annual general meeting, where you can shape the future of the Vancouver Fringe. Membership is free for children aged 13 and under. Must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets can be purchased online, or over the phone or in-person through our box office. We do not offer ticket purchases at the door of the venues.

In 2023, ticket prices were updated to $15, $16, $17, or $18, chosen by the artist. This allows for cost-of-living increases, and for artists to choose the best price based on, for example, different numbers of performers, travel costs, and costs to create.

There is a $3 fee for every full-price ticket, and a $2 fee for every discounted ticket. The full ticket price including fee is displayed on the website. Artists receive 100% of the base ticket price, and the fee goes to cover ticketing costs such as visa charges, theatre improvement fees, and website fees.

We do have a handful of shows designed for children and families. There are also plenty of shows at the Fringe Festival that anyone of any age will lose. However, not all Fringe shows are appropriate for all ages. Each event will have an age rating that can be found on the show’s page on our website

The Vancouver Fringe gives 100% of ticket profits back to artists – providing one of the only accessible and affordable platforms for artists to independently produce their work. We rely on generous individuals, companies, and funders to produce our festival.

Please give today to support independent artists by visiting the Donate page on our website.
