60 Seconds With… the Author of ‘Guys Don’t Journal’

Briefly introduce yourself/your company…
Hi everyone. I am fortunate to wear many hats spanning a diverse array of topics. I am a #1 International Best-Selling Author, a Professional & TEDx Speaker, a Professional Coastal Engineer, & the Founder of the YVR Speaker Series – Vancouver’s Hottest New Monthly Event.

My memoir, satori ananda – awaken to happiness, is a memoir about reinvention following loss. Guy’s Don’t Journal is based on this book.

As a community builder, I am the founder of the YVR Speaker Series. The monthly series features Vancouver’s Top Entrepreneurs, Professionals and Influential Leaders coming together for a transformational evening of connection, collaboration and growth.

Passionate about helping our planet, I am a Professional Engineer acting as GHD’s Maritime & Coastal Lead for Western Canada, where I specializes in habitat enhancement and remedial dredging projects, both which improve fish and wildlife habitat in our oceans.

What is it that makes your work/company unique?

Engineer turned author, turned speaker, now turned theatre performer – anything is possible! My mission is to inspire others to live the life of their dreams, I do this by continuing to grow and do things I would have never thought possible only a few short years ago.

Life is short, but each of us has something inside that wants to be expressed. If you feel that pull, that calling, it is up to you to summons the courage to let it out and be shared with others.

What kind of experience do you hope audiences will have during your show?
The intention is through witnessing a transformation on stage, the audience will look within themselves and be inspired to ask themselves: “who am I and what does my soul desire?

Without spoilers, tell us what you think audiences will remember most about your show?
I know the audience will remember GDJ for its rawness, vulnerability and authenticity. The audience will also appreciate the rarely shared male viewpoint of the heartbreak experienced during divorce.

What do you think is the best thing about the Fringe?
The best thing about Fringing is the diversity of shows and our freedom for self expression.

What is the most important thing you hope audiences will take away from your show?
Living the life of your dreams is possible, it’s just sometimes it takes a whole lot of adversity to discover your true purpose & passion. Embrace the journey.
