Dolores Drake returns to Vancouver Fringe with her critical hit from 2016, The Distance Between Newfoundland and Toronto. In our latest blog feature, Delores shares a small tease as to what you can expect from her stunning sell-out production this fall.
Briefly introduce yourself/your company…
Hard Tack Productions was formed when i created my first solo play “Randell’s Wake”
in 2000.
What is it that makes your work/company unique?
All my stories so far have been filled with Newfoundland characters .I grew up in a small Newfoundland Outport. Every trip home I meet more relatives and hear tales of the past and present, some true ,some made up. Newfounlanders love to take the piss out of anyone. I’m inspired by my roots and ,the humour and heart, of the people .
What kind of experience do you hope audiences will have during your show?
I hope they will laugh a lot and be moved by Theresa’s story.
Without spoilers, tell us what you think audiences will remember most about your show?
The character of Theresa.
What do you think is the best thing about the Fringe?
The opportunity to see the work of all these artists.
What is the most important thing you hope audiences will take away from your show?
Hope.
