60 Seconds With… David C. Jones, of Intergalactic Improv Show, “Yes!? AND!?’

We sat down with long-time Vancouver Fringe supporter, David C. Jones, and got a glimpse into his upcoming comedy show, ‘Yes!? AND!?’

Briefly introduce yourself/your company…
My name is David C. Jones, and I have been around doing things and Vancouver and the Fringe for a couple decades. I’ve also hosted a lot of things and fundraised for the Fringe. Last year I did a show called Eviction Conniption. It won an award for its multimedia presentation. I do a lot of other stuff so you can check out my website. www.davidcjones.ca

What is it that makes your work/company unique? I have created a lot of scripted/improvised hybrid shows, but this is the first one that I’ve created as a solo show. This Science Fiction adventure by my clown character Harry Derrière gets surprisingly personal. Oh, and somebody ‘dies’.

What kind of experience do you hope audiences will have during your show? I want people to be dazzled by the wonderful set that Amy Harris did and I want people to laugh and have a good time and learn that sometimes crappy things happen, but we should try to focus on the non-crappy ones.

Without spoilers, tell us what you think audiences will remember most about your show…
I don’t know I think they will remember each other because different audience members will play the crew members on the spaceship bridge. They will remember themselves because they are what makes the show.

How do you feel about participating in the 40th anniversary of the Vancouver Fringe!? It’s wild. I keep thinking about how the Festival always struggles to survive but continues to thrive. I remember when I was one of the people who were helping raise money by sending a chicken container around to the audience to collect pocket change from the audience before the show started. Talk about desperation. But it’s still going strong!

Tickets for Yes!? AND!? are on sale now, taking place at Arts Umbrella from 5 – 15 Sep. Book your spot today for just $17 per person!
